quick question.
how do you stand up for your beliefs? If someone is bashing what you believe, how do you react?

I know exactly how that feels. There is a feeling of just silence, and being quite to avoid conflict or confrontation. No one likes an argument. I have even sometimes just nodded at things that I really should of defended, but i didn't want to make a scene. Standing up for one's beliefs takes courage and strength. It takes an inner-confidance and self-esteem to stand up and defend for what you think is right when one is attacked. If one is being directly bashed, i think it is proper to react in a non-loud, passive, respecting manor- no matter how offensive, explicit, or odd the bashing beliefs may seem. They will feel if you can't respect them, they can't respect you. once you through your opinion out there, it becomes easier to build off that, since you've laid the foundation of your expressions, the springboard has been set. Um... i know from personal experience that instead of telling them why they are wrong... you should ask them why they think they are right, and just keep asking questions. if it's just bland straight up bashing, ask them why they think you're wrong, and keep asking them questions about how you are wrong. Pull a Jesus, and answer questions with questions, and shift the argument till the once instigator is now the defender. "Speak softly, and carry a big stick." it's been a long day, so these thoughts may seem a ilttle "half-baked," but they are still good tohughts, I think- otherwise i wouldn't of taken the time to answer! ;D
Hey Richard, thanks a lot for your response. I think you’re actually completely right, answer questions with questions. Last Sunday, I was put in this position and I probably did the complete opposite of what you suggested. It’s like, when I’m put in the position, I completely forget everything I’ve ever learned to a good discussion and just lost it. Ah well. Next time I’ll just remember what you said and hopefully I’ll be fine. ;)
anyways, I don't really have much to say since I pretty much agree, so thanks for sharing your thoughts! :)
